Meadow Orchard Site Management training
Sat 23rd Feb, 2-4pm
The Meadow Orchard Project aims to hold regular volunteer workdays on a Saturday to maintain and develop the site. The project always needs more people to help on a regular basis with supervising volunteers and managing the site tasks. We are offering a training session for people who would like to commit more regularly to helping out. The volunteer workdays are a relaxed, social and fun occasion with a shared lunch and often pub visit at end of the day. The volunteers get a lot out of the day to enjoy being in beautiful nature, socialise and meet others, to learn new skills/knowledge and be physically active in the fresh outdoors.
The session will cover:
understanding the features and layout of the site, including garden, orchard, wildlife areas and wildlife management plan
brief introduction to permaculture philosophy and principles and how they are being implemented
getting familiar with ongoing site management tasks, resources and equipment available etc
intro to garden management, including planting plan and perennial planting
safe tool use and care
health and safety
planning work tasks for the year and future projects
I hope you will be able to join us, especially if you have been coming to volunteer a few times and want to get more involved.
Please reply if you can attend to mobile 07947 617563 or email to meadoworchard@virginmedia.com.
There are challenges - peak oil, climate change, the economy - but we believe that sharing knowledge and skills in the community will create a better society. Click for our Newsletter, Ongoing initiatives,

Bottle tops and corks - we need you!
Got any beer bottle tops and corks lying about or destined for the bin?
PLEASE save them, and drop them off in the collection points in reception area of Hornsey Vale Community Centre....
Once enough are collected, we will use them for some free community art events in the spring and summer later this year. Get collecting and let's see what we can create with them...!
*** if anyone can also collect and drop off ring pulls from cans that would be great too as we need loads to create eco-clothes for the Alternative Clothes Show! ***
